At the Irish door...

Rustic, chic and colorful doors are the beautiful charm of Ireland. There is a strong contrast between the usual grey sky and the bright paints on the doors, and it gives a huge inspiration and lot of influence at the moment of choosing outfits and photographing them.
Northern Ireland is not the exception and thanks to the Irish influence they also got the interesting tradition about the doors. At the beginning we thought it was just a coincidence, but actually then you realize how many colorful doors you find in random places around the city.

The image of  neutral and serious houses have a strong accent with intense and bright colors on the doors with Georgian architecture, wich was done on purpose to counteract the monotony of the Georgian buildings.
This artistic touch has a funny story behind it; the urban legend says that the doors were painted in order to avoid the drunk people to get into the wrong house when they come back from the pub. Because long time ago in Dublin a drunk man came home very dizzy and made love with his 'wife', but the morning after he realized was the house next door and he'd slept with the neighbor instead of his wife.
Afterwards, his wife painted the door in a bright red to avoid her husband to get confused again.

In Northern Ireland the vintage enviroment with retro elements (like old shops, taxis, painted walls and street fashion) and facts like the rainy weather and colorful spotlights make you wear dramatic and elegant outfits, combined with timeless classics like hats, jackets and black boots plus clean accesories.

PIMP UP MY LAPTOP!

For anyone is not a secret how fashionably is being the 'paper tape' for this season, is the spotlight on every art shop and the main tool for a creative notebook, is because we might find it so beautiful and fun, and at the same time is something cheap, practical and easy to use; that's why we didn't have any doubt about using it in the most strange way possible and we decided to pimp our gadgets using the paper tape!

-The materials-  For this beautiful project you will need:  first of all a computer obviously... If you don't have your own, don't have any doubts about taking your boyfriend's laptop, he will be very happy :)
You also will need the paper tapes, you can find them in every art supplies shop or rather on internet, (SmashBook* is one of the coolest brands, and you can even find complete kits to build your own creative stuffs with several materials http://www.eksuccessbrands.com ) after you've got the tape and the Laptop the rest will be pretty easy, just get your permanent marker and scissors! And let's get it started!

You can start studying a bit the keyboard of your computer to don't make any mistake at the moment of covering your keys. Then, cut in a piece of paper the patern of the square taking the right measure of the keys on your keyboard, and start cutting one by one while you begin unrolling the tape, Is even easier if you cut one by one and you put it straight away on the keyboard, and then, you write with the permanent marker the right letter or number when is already on the key, Jut make sure that your computer is switch off and don't put to many weight on your laptop while you do it, with time the tape gonna stay perfectly attached to the computer, if it  stays closed for a while. I recommend to do this D.I.Y on a rainy and lazy sunday, since you need a lot of patience to cut every little square of paper tape :) once you have all the keyboard covered with tape and with the letters written you just have to paint a bit the tape around the corners carefully  with a transparent nail polish to make it stronger and it will last long time.

The screen of the IOS devices tend to break very easily ( mine is not the exception) so when it happened  I've got nervous and I didn't know how to fix it, or better.. how to hide it. So I used the paper tape as a technical solution :)  and it came out in a very artistic way.

THE RED TELEPHONE BOX

The iconic British symbol throughout the world ' the public telephone kiosk' is today the source of inspiration for taking pictures around. Is impossible not to miss it with its great design and iconic shape. That's why not only me, everyone else is in love with this urban and familiar sight on the streets of the United Kingdom.
Actually I was sure that I just could find it in London, but walking around Belfast I saw it, and I just got crazy with it! Like every tourist, I think :D
This cabin box is not only particular in the U.K, also in different British colonies around the world, like Malta, Bermuda and Gibraltar. In the recent years have been disappearing almost all of them, that's why the only one we could photograph is very old and worn, but this makes it even more interesting and special.
Is already a symbol of history and style, when was created in 1924 by Sir Giles Gilbert Scott inspired by the police boxes.

The artistic design of the public telephone is not an accident was actually the result of many people competing since 1923 to introduce a kiosk that would be acceptable by the London Metropolitan Boroughs and then selected by the Royal Fine Art Commission, after many attempts they couldn't  find anything good enough to take as a Phone kiosk. When finally they invited three respected architects to see their works. The winner was the red telephone box that we know until now and is still where it was placed the first time at the entrance of the Royal Academy in London.

The creative city...Berlin!

Giant Graffiti painted in one of the coolest hotels in Berlin, in front of the Berlin's wall.
Berlin! One of the biggest and nicest cities in the world. So multicultural and artistic, so majestic and intimidating!  is the German capital :D We definitely had to go there, to get some inspiration around, and for sure we could find it!
At the beginning looks so big and confusing...specially at the moment when you hear the German language and you don't understand anything...:@ (And you don't even want to understand that language...)  :D But that's all! Because actually you feel like in a little version of the planet. You just see people from all over the world, art and diversity in every corner that makes you feel  inspired and awake, The city never sleeps and is full of magic and shops! That's why we love it!
The museums and galleries are everywhere, I never saw too many museums in one place, or too many galleries in just one single street, the city is made for artists!
The best way to visit Berlin is by walk, (...As a students that we are... :D ) We found the transportation really expensive there and the streets so cool! then, the best way to sightseeing is going around by feet, and for sure you will find many interesting places around that are not in a city map; that's why Berlin surprises more, becasue you can find amazing things without looking for them!
Berlin Has a very spontaneous street art and also lot of history behind every wall. Is so serious and modern city, but at the same time you breathe so much freedom...

Summer sky in Berlin! ok...at least we got a nice picture... but with the -5 degrees we didn't care so much about the picture, just going home!

Berlin's history has left the city with a highly eclectic array of architecture and buildings.

The East Side Gallery, open air exhibition of art painted on the last existing portions of the Berlin Wall.

Berlin is home of 153 museums!  Also has a long history of gay culture and influence on popular entertainment, and according to some authors, in the 1920s the city was the Gay Capital of Europe!
