Exploring Dali

Dali Museum-Gallery xpo Bruges-Belgium
Visiting Bruges means getting a strong and close connection with art! This beautiful city depicts beauty in all the ways...Its channels, the medieval style of the place itself, and its buildings where every detail looks perfectly done... and to think that this is just the beginning! because Bruges is flooded of amazing museums where the most valuable Northern Art can be appreciate; but in Bruges there is always place for modern and contemporary art as well. The Salvador Dali Museum-Gallery Xpo is located right in the city center and it offers a glance to one of the most representative modern artist: Salvador Dali!

Like Dali itself this place is original, bizarre and doesn't look like a boring museum whatsoever. The museum is colorful and playful! The very walls of the gallery are a work of art, organized in an interesting way, surrounded by odd objects and painted in strong colors. It is a great display of all his works; sculptures, drawings, paintings and pictures, and it's set to make you feel at his original museum in Gerona-Spain.
This prominent artist always have called my attention, maybe it's the way he used to think, what he said, his energy, his positivism and deep meanings that he transmits on his paintings...I admire extremely the way he lived as a successful artist who inspired a lot of people, who create a great representation of surrealism out of his mind and who knew how to transmit his talent in many other different ways like in fashion, cartoons, films, advertising, design... I mean this guy really had amazing ideas to show off and his creativity definitely  looks infinite.
The elephant is also a recurring image in DalĂ's works,
"The elephant is a distortion in space", one analysis explains, "its spindly legs contrasting the idea of weightlessness with structure.
Savador Dali was one of those few artist who really made something different and left a trademark in art and what is now our modern world, this exposition in Bruges should definitely be a 'must to visit!' It will inspire you and make you smile, because every work from Dali would make you think deeply and have a laugh while you appreciate his bizarre and recognizable symbolic style.

Repent! An outfit by me

‘Repent’ is a representation of an outfit inspired by an isolated and warm place, I imagined a deserted place in the U.S in the 70’s to highlight the sensuality of the woman, but where the woman from the working class yearns for being independent bringing an outfit which shows a strong personality. I played with retro elements and the red T-shirt is the result of my hand painted design in black and white using an stencil as a guide. The vest is one of the most interesting pieces I have created, it is the result of an old pair of Levi’s jeans that I have transformed taking the back part of male's jeans and adjusting it as a vest and adding zippers. The shorts are part of one of my transformed pieces as well, I took a pair of old shorts that I consequently cut and sewn again to make them high and give a feminine shape to the body, I also had added the zippers on the borders:like pockets and seams to make the design more aggressive and interesting. This photo shoot represents some pieces that I’ve been transforming and working with. Thanks to this hobby of changing clothes and converting them I improved a lot my sewing skills! It can be a great idea for you as well to change and transform old pieces at adjusting them, at the same time that you are being ecological; you can easily get a very interesting design that would be really appreciated, you may just need the right time and creativity to make it work, so why don't you try!? :)

A visit to the Textile Museum

Artist textiles: Picasso to Warhol. Tilburg- The Netherlands.
A visit to the Textile Museum in Tilburg could be considered as one of the most inspiring experiences you can have at a museum...especially when there is a whole exposition of all the modern masters altogether at the same room, such Warhol, Matisse, Dali or Picasso...
This place is a festival of colour, textures and art! -The Artist Textiles- is precisely the exposition that perfectly displays the whole story about how artist started to look for ways to make their works more appealing to the broader audience when they discovered design and the development of mass-produced textiles, in a such a way that designing pattern and motifs for fabrics became an important component of an artist's work. That was the breakthrough when modern art became accessible to all...in fabrics! mass-produced design! and ready-to-wear! all concepts that changed completely our era of art, fashion and design.

Salvador Dali, keeping his authentic surrealist trademark!
Joan Miro Dresses and prints.
The exhibition portraits in a very interesting way the whole story about fabric design through artist's works and their styles; there you can find objects like: books, paintings, the fabrics and the actual clothes that have been made, with examples from Fauvism, Cubism, Constructivism, Modernism, Surrealism and Pop Art. I personally loved Andy Warhol's designs! He managed to keep his designs still very colorful but in a simple and playful way; he placed awesome prints and illustrations in his typical artsy style.
